Amber Flag Initiative
As part of our Amber Flag Initiative this year, the boys and girls in 5th Class attended a three week online zoom session titled 'Building Resilience and Self Confidence' facilitated by our local education centre in Galway. Up to 80 other classes in the county and surrounding areas also joined in.
As part of the final session, we designed 'Positive Self Talk' posters. Have a look below at some of the amazing artwork and inspiring, positive language that the class came up with.
Science Week - November 2022
As part of Science Week 2022, 5th Class carried out an investigation on paper spinners. The children investigated whether the size of the paper spinner and the way the wings were folded effected the speed at which the paper spinner fell to the ground.
The boys and girls discovered the following:
1) The larger the paper spinner, the slower it fell to the ground because of its larger surface area therefore more air resistance
2) Changing the way the wings on the paper spinner were folded caused the direction of rotating of the paper spinner to change from clockwise to anti clockwise.

All the children in 5th Class received their Certificates for Safe Road users recently. Here they are learning how to be safe road users - not just drivers but safe cyclists and pedestrians also.
As part of Maths Week, 5th Class completed many exciting Maths based activities throughout the week, from an online Maths Quiz with over 12,000 other pupils across all of Ireland to some daily problems in the classroom. Here are some pictures from Maths Week 2022 in 5th Class.
